Support the Lāna‘i Heritage Preservation Fund
Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center is a living record of the people, families and communities who shaped Lāna‘i. Our collection includes cultural artifacts gathered from historic sites, family treasures bestowed to our care and photographic and art collections entrusted to us to preserve. It includes documents that tell the story of Lāna‘i’s people and plantation days. Our museum and archival collection are not simply objects. They are pieces of Lāna‘i’s history that we must share with future generations.
Our island's history is at risk.
A group of donors has pledged $30,000 in matching funds to help replace our aging climate-control system and protect Lānaʻi’s irreplaceable cultural collections. The new system will cost upwards of $60,000. Without proper temperature and humidity control, moisture and our island's humidity can lead to mildew, mold and deterioration. Once mildew takes hold, it can damage or destroy fragile documents, photographs, textiles, artwork and other irreplaceable materials.
